Wife throws cake at husband after not getting gift she wanted
A woman celebrating her birthday has been arrested after she allegedly threw a birthday cake and a book at her husband after her husband didn’t get the gift she asked for.
Sandra Ann Valinote, 44, of 257 Hogum Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, was arrested Monday by Dep. Tracie Phipps of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department. She is to appear in General Sessions Court on Feb. 6 to face a charge of assault under domestic violence.
Phipps said she was called to Roan Mountain and spoke to the victim, Steve Valinote, who had driven a truck up the road to meet with the officer. He told the officer that his wife was upset because he did not give her the boots she asked for on her birthday, which was Saturday. He said his wife threw a book and a birthday cake at him and then she tried to choke him.
The officer went to the residence and spoke to the woman. The woman said she took her husband’s cake and a cup of coffee and said he then knocked it off the bed onto the floor. She said her husband always accuses her of domestic abuse. but he always drops the charges. Phipps said the victim had scratches on his face.
