Two arrested in hit-and-run crash
Two people were arrested Tuesday afternoon following an alleged hit-and-run crash in Stoney Creek.
Trooper Ronnie McClure of the Tennessee Highway Patrol said he was dispatched to a crash on Highway 91 in Stoney Creek at approximately 2:39 p.m. A woman told officers that another vehicle struck her vehicle, causing it to spin around on 91. The second vehicle then left the scene.
McClure said a witness briefly followed the vehicle and provided tag information for officers. The tag came back to a residence at 131 Clover Branch Road, off Siam Road. Carter County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Isaac Rhea, Constable Landon Pritchard and Constable Tim Lyons located the vehicle at the address in Siam and saw two white males walking from the vehicle.
Officers determined Bryan Tyler Taylor, 53, of 417-1/2 Johnson Ave., Apt. 2,, Elizabethton, was the driver of the vehicle. McClure said Taylor appeared to be “very intoxicated and could not attempt field sobriety tests.” Taylor was also driving on a revoked license. He was then arrested for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and driving on a revoked license.
Earl Junior Johnson, 55, of the Clover Branch residence, was also arrested. McClure said Johnson, the vehicle’s owner, was a passenger at the time of the crash and appeared to be intoxicated. He was charged with DUI by consent and leaving the scene of an accident.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
