Miss Watauga Valley to crown 20th titleholder on Feb. 11
The Executive Committee of the Miss Watauga Valley Pageant will crown the 20th Miss Watauga Valley at a pageant scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. at T.A. Dugger Junior High School Auditorium in Elizabethton.
To celebrate this special occasion, the committee has invited all former Miss Watauga Valleys to attend the pageant and be honored as special guests. At least 10 of the former titleholders, some travelling from as far as Georgia and Alabama, are expected to attend. Emceeing the pageant for the evening will be Charlie Garcia, a local entertainer and media representative, and Susan Leonard Painter, a former Miss Jonesborough and Miss Johnson City.
Special entertainment will be provided by Brittany Kyte, Miss Watauga Valley 2010; Sherry Hardin Nelson, Miss Watauga Valley 1993; dancers from JoAnne Hodge Studio; and Kayla Neikirk, the current Miss Watauga Valley 2011.
The new Miss Watauga Valley 2012 will receive a scholarship provided by Dick and Carolyn Johnson of Elizabethton in memory of their son, Dr. Michael Johnson, as well as an official Miss America preliminary crown and sash, a tanning package, a fitness package, flowers, a photo package, manicure services, plus an opportunity to compete for the title of Miss Tennessee 2012 in Jackson June 20-23, 2012.
Tickets are $10 and available at the door. Children 5 and under are admitted free and children 6 through 11 are $5 when accompanied by an adult. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
