Milligan men, Lady Buffaloes swept at Union College
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. — The Milligan College men’s basketball team was unable to pick up an AAC road win on Wednesday night as they fell 72-56 to Union (Ky.) College.
Torian Sitton opened the scoring with a layup, and the teams traded shots in the game’s early minutes. Midway through the half, Union went on a 12-0 run to take a double-digit lead. The Buffaloes trimmed the lead back to double-digits with points from Kyle Grisby and Tyler DeVault as Milligan cut the Union lead to 25-17 with four minutes left in the half. However, Union extended their lead to 35-25 at the break.
The Buffaloes quickly pulled within six points in the first four minutes of the second half with points from Marshall Hardy and Mickey Woods. After the Bulldogs extended their lead back to 12 points, the Buffaloes cut the game to 44-37 with just over 13 minutes to play, but Union answered with a run of their own and the Buffaloes were unable to respond.
Grisby led the way with 18 points. Rob Larsen and Hardy had six points apiece.
With the loss, Milligan falls to 9-15 overall and 5-9 in AAC action.

Alisha Mainer scored the first four points for the Buffaloes, but the Lady Bulldogs pulled out to a 16-6 lead with just over 12 minutes left in the first half. Milligan cut the gap with a 9-2 run that was capped off by a Dorian Freeman basket to pull within three points. However, Union slowly extended their lead back to double-digits before a Kayla Kelly 3-pointer cut it to a 34-26 lead at the break.
After the Lady Bulldogs took their lead back to 12 points, the Buffaloes cut the gap as a Chelsey Weddle drained a 3-pointer with 9:37 left to pull to 48-43. However, Milligan was unable to answer a Union run in the second part of the half.
Mainer ended the game with 15 points, while Jamiee Hill had 10 points. Freeman recorded seven points. Kelly led the team with 11 rebounds.
With the loss, the Buffaloes fall to 7-8 in AAC action and 15-12 overall.
Milligan’s men and women return to action Saturday with Tennessee Wesleyan at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
