Bakers Gap

A Friends and Family Service will be held Sunday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Bakers Gap Baptist Church, Butler. The youth will also be doing Valentines.

Sacred Harmony

The Sacred Harmony Quartet will present a special song service Sunday, Feb. 12, at 10:45 a.m. at Downtown Christian Church, 335 E. Main St., Johnson City.

They will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Greene Hills Baptist Church, 145 Hillcrest Drive, Greeneville.

 

Fish Springs

Mike Reid and Friends will sing at the Fish Springs Baptist Church on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Willow Springs 

Winter Bible Study will be held Feb. 12-15 at the Willow Springs Baptist Church, Stoney Creek. The Bible study, which will be on the Book of Ecclesiastes, will be taught by Rev. Charles “Toonie” Cash. Services will be held on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m.

East River Park

Minister Barry Pettit will continue the “Hall of Faith” series on Sunday, Feb. 12, at East River Park Christian Church. His message during the 10:45 a.m. worship service will be “Battle Like David” based on I Samuel 17: 32-37.

Sunday School classes for all ages will begin at 9:45 a.m. The Spanish Ministry will meet in the church fellowship hall immediately following the morning services. Youth workers will meet at 12:30 p.m.

The 20/20 Life Groups will meet at 5 p.m. on Sunday for Bible study and discussion.

Wednesday night services will begin at 7 p.m. with Connection Bible Study groups for adults, classes for children in nursery through fifth grade and the youth group meeting with their leaders and sponsors.

Hunter First Baptist

Hunter First Baptist Church will host The Melody Trio in concert on Sunday, Feb. 12, in celebration of Senior Adult Day.

The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the public is invited. A nursery will be provided for infants through age two. A love offering will be received.

Unaka Baptist

Unaka Baptist Church will be showing the movie “Courageous” on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m.

The regularly scheduled Brotherhood Breakfast at the church will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. A $6 donation is appreciated. During the breakfast, the WMU will be having a bake sale, with all proceeds going to missions.

First Christian

Minister Brent L. Nidiffer will preach his sixth sermon from the series entitled “Seven” on Sunday, Feb. 12, at First Christian Church. The series discusses the Seven Deadly Emotions, with this week’s topic being “Lust” and how its grip can destroy. The study looks closely at how these unchecked emotions can control and what steps can be taken to rein them in and gain self-control through the Holy Spirit. The morning worship service will begin at 9:45 a.m.

Sunday School classes will meet following morning worship and at noon the children’s committee will meet in the church fellowship hall.

On Sunday at 6 p.m. the adults will meet in the sanctuary while the children and youth will meet in their evening classes. At 7 p.m. the board will meet in the conference room.

On Monday the Ladies Bible Study Group will meet at 10 a.m. in the Education Wing. Tuesday Morning Prayer Time will be held at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. Bible study will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and choir practice will be held at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 18, the ladies are invited to attend ALM Women’s Conference at Milligan College.

First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church of Elizabethton will celebrate Evolution Sunday Feb. 12. The discussion at the Adult Forum at 9:45 a.m. will center on Evolution: Then and Now. The discussion will center around Charles Darwin’s book “The Origin of Species” and major areas of research in the last 150 years that have strengthened his theory.

The theme for the 11 a.m. worship service is “Kernels and Cosmos” with Scripture reading from John 12: 20-50. The service will honor Charles Darwin, an evolutionary mystic.

At 1 p.m., there will be a field trip to the Gray Fossil Site.

First United Methodist

“A Little Piece of Bread for Your Heart” will be the theme of the sermon at the morning worship service Sunday, Feb. 12, at First United Methodist Church. The scripture text is Genesis 18: 1-8.

In expounding on the sermon theme, Rev. Raymond Amos said, “The Lord appeared to Abraham as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. That was the dinner hour, and today it is the dinner hour of the church as we celebrate Holy Communion. Following Abraham’s example let us meet the Lord, worship Him and eat a morsel of Bread for the strength of our hearts.”

The service will begin at 10 a.m. after which a brief fellowship time will be held. Sunday School for all ages will begin at 11:20 a.m. The Men’s Prayer Group will meet at 9 a.m. in Room 108.

Sunday Evening Bible Study will meet at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

The Abiding Love Bible Study group will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the fellowship hall.

Freedom Fellowship

“A Night of Music and Memories” featuring the Pruitt Family will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. at Freedom Fellowship Church, 1784 Highway 91.

Boyd and Charlotte Pruitt will be joined by former members of the Singing Pruitts singing songs written by Charlotte. Other featured singers will be The Sounds of Victory, Greater Glory and Royal Vision.

As well as a night to honor Charlotte and Boyd for their 53 years of ministry, money received that night will benefit the Parkinson Disease Foundation in honor of Charlotte, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s three years ago.

Church of the Nazarene

The Elizabethton First Church of the Nazarene will host the showing of the film “Courageous” on Friday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The movie is free and childcare will be provided. There will also be concessions.

Bethlehem Lutheran

“That They May Be Saved” is the sermon theme for morning worship Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Johnson City. The sermon text is I Corinthians 10: 31-11:1. Morning worship will be held at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Holy communion will be served at both services.

Sunday School and Bible study will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Interpreted services for the deaf are available on the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

Memorial Presbyterian

The Sunday morning worship service at Memorial Presbyterian Church will feature the sermon “Jesus: The True Vine” based on John 15: 1-16. The service will begin at 10:45 a.m. and will also feature the Chancel Choir singing “O Jesus, I Have Promised” arranged by Howard Helvey. The worship team will lead the congregation in singing contemporary music.

A nursery, Children’s Small Talk and Children’s Church will be provided during the worship service.

The monthly fellowship lunch following the worship service will feature a presentation by Memorial’s recently formed Disaster Response Team.

Sunday School for all ages is available at 9:30 a.m.
