Ex-Virginia. postmaster pleads guilty to embezzlement of $30,000
ABINGDON, Va. (AP) — A former Scott County postmaster has pleaded guilty to embezzlement charges.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Heaphy says 56-year-old Cynthia K. Landore of Bristol, Tenn., entered the plea to two counts Wednesday in federal court in Abingdon.
Landore was the postmaster at the Hiltons Post Office. Prosecutors say Landore admitted the theft of more than $30,000 by converting funds from the sale of money orders and stamps for her personal use between June 2010 and July 2011.
Landore faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count. Landore also agreed to pay restitution.
