Watauga Baptist Association Music School later this month
The 34th Annual Watauga Association of Baptist Music School will be held on Feb. 27 and 28 and March 1 and 2 at the Grace Baptist Church, 1114 Broad St.
Sessions will be held each evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The adult cantata, “Song of the Lamb,” by Marty Parks will be directed by Paul Clark. Clark is Director of Worship & Music Ministries for the Tennessee Baptist Convention and has previously visited in Elizabethton just to hear the music school concerts.
Parks, who wrote the “Song of the Lamb,” is the son of Joe Parks, who wrote many of the cantatas that the music school has performed in the past.
The orchestra will be led by Tim Smith, worship director at Elizabethton First Baptist. Those who are interested in playing in the orchestra are invited to bring their instruments and be a part of the school.
The director of the Youth Praise Team will be Travis “TJ” Skeen, music director at Hunter First Baptist Church. Skeen is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and is also band director at Hampton High School. He is a multi-talented individual and invites youth of the community to bring their instruments and voices and be a part of the music school’s praise team.
The children’s praise music director is Seth O’Kegley, who is music minister at Pinecrest Baptist Church. Seth is a music education major at East Tennessee State University and a member of 12Bucsworth. The children are doing the musical “Copy Cat of the King” by Kathie Hill.
On Friday evening, March 2, the music school program will be presented to the public at 7:30 p.m.
