11:12 am Tribute paid to Roy Smith and Ruth Kerley by RM club

In January we lost two dear friends, Roy Smith, a devoted father, a loving husband, a veteran and a child of God; and Ruth Kerley, a devoted mother, a loving wife and a child of God. Roy Smith died on January 15, 2012, and Ruth Kerley on January 17, 2012.
I have personally known Roy and Ruth for 20 plus years and they have always been an example of Christian values. I have never heard anything from Roy or Ruth but Godly advice and constructive comments. Roy was a member of First Baptist Church in Roan Mountain and Ruth at MaGill Presbyterian Church in Roan Mountain.
They lived lives to be envied by all. Roy and Ruth enjoyed life and were completely committed to serving God, country and family. They were members of the Roan Mountain Citizens Club. Roy was a dedicated and committed worker and Ruth was our resident expert on the history of the club and the Roan Mountain community. They leave behind a legacy to be envied by all. They will be missed by their church, the citizens club, their family and the Roan Mountain community.
Rest in peace dear friends. You will always be treasured forever in our community.
