On Coach Bayless’ retirement, I was on the 1974 state basketball championship team, and was lucky enough to hit “the short!” Little did I know then that some of the simple fundamentals that Coach taught us for and during the games such as focus, patience, attitude and follow through would not only do me well in the Happy Valley games, but also do me well throughout the years in the game of life.
