An outreach program of the Volunteer Sunday School Class at Elizabethton First Free Will Baptist Church is its monthly meal program. The ladies of the Sunday School class prepare a meal, which they carry out to approximately 50 elderly, sick or shut-in members of the community. They finance the program through a weekly offering, which is used to buy the meat, carryout trays, etc. Members then contribute with vegetables and desserts and time. This past week the meal included steak and gravy, creamed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, a roll and dessert. Cooking and carryout day is the second Monday of each month. The class has been doing the meal program for several years. Pictured as they prepared last Monday’s meal are (l-r) Maxine Greer, Doris Perry, Ruth White, JoAnn Carver, Peggy Davis, Patty White and Norma Johnson. Other members of the class include Carolyn Brace, Loretta Pritchard, Betty Hardin, Martha Crain, Sandy Guinn, Virginia McQueen, Rozella Hardin and Gerrie Hardin.
