12:08 pm Non-profits can apply to share proceeds from annual ‘Taste’

The Taste of Carter County is now accepting applications from non-profit agencies to choose the one that will share in the proceeds from the event. This is the second year that the Taste of Carter County has shared the funds raised from the dinner with a non-profit agency selected from the community.
Prior to last year, the proceeds from the Taste of Carter County were split between the Elizabethton-Carter County Chamber of Commerce and the same non-profit organization each year. With the new process, a different non-profit will be able to benefit each year.
Non-profits who want to be considered need to fill out an application that can be found on the Chamber of Commerce’s website, Carter County Bank’s website or that can be picked up at either of those locations.
Eligible non-profits must be registered as a 501c3 and have a yearly audit completed. The services they offer must directly impact Carter County and its citizens. The non-profit must also be able to provide enough staff, volunteers and/or board members to assist with the event beginning in April.
The non-profit must be prepared to submit upon request the IRS Form 990, the IRS letter verifying their tax-exempt status, the non-profit’s by-laws and the document containing nepotism and conflict of interest clauses if they are not included in the bylaws.
The application must be submitted by April 2 at 5 p.m. They can be dropped off at the Chamber of Commerce or any Carter County Bank location. They can also be mailed to: Taste of Carter County, Carter County Bank, P.O. Box 1990, Elizabethton, TN 37644. The selected non-profit will be notified no later than Monday, April 9.
Carter County Bank is joint organizer for the Taste of Carter County with the Elizabethton-Carter County Chamber of Commerce.
