In Carter County’s and Elizabethton’s school systems, a better response might be virtual field trips, pre-calculus or even flight simulation.

An increasingly common component of everyday life, technology is also an ever-growing force in classrooms as students prepare for life in the work force or in college.

Valley Forge Elementary School third-grader Loretta Sherrill sums it up: “You have fun while learning,” she said. “It is a cool way to learn. It is not so boring.”

Students in the Carter County and Elizabethton City school systems have the opportunity to use the newest forms of technology with regular access to desktop and laptop computers, Smartboards and Promethean boards, iPads and iPods.
