MARYVILLE (AP) — Blount County authorities have seized cash and jewelry, citing the owner of a jewelry and gold buyer store for not complying with state law.
According to The Daily Times, officials said additional charges are pending against Danny Dossett Malone, who is 49.
Sheriff James Berrong said an undercover officer documented violations at Malone’s store in Alcoa after the department received complaints that the business wasn’t asking for seller’s identification or reporting scrap jewelry transactions to law enforcement by noon of the next business day.
Deputies and Alcoa Police officers seized several thousand dollars in cash and jewelry Tuesday when a search warrant was executed.
Malone said Wednesday that he was hiring an attorney and declined further comment.
