Alexander to make another stadium pitch
By Ashley Rader
With around $450,000 in received and pledged donations in hand, Elizabethton City Schools Superintendent Ed Alexander is set to appear before the Elizabethton City Council tonight to give an update on progress and ask for support for additional classrooms at T.A. Dugger Junior High School and a new athletic complex at Elizabethton High School.
The school system has been pursuing the new classrooms and stadium for the past year and a half, during which time, school leaders have sought a bond issue to fund the work. The estimated cost of the athletic complex and the eight classrooms has been put at $7.5 million. Alexander has worked to secure private donations to help cover the cost of the expansion program.
