Arnold, North too much for HV

KINGSPORT — Meeting up at Richard Carroll Gym, Happy Valley and Sullivan North were engaged in the pursuit of victory Friday night.

The Golden Raiders triumphed by cutting right to the Chase.

With Chase Arnold netting a career-high 46 points and yanking down 19 rebounds, North dismissed the stubborn Warriors 69-60 in a Three Rivers Conference basketball game.

“He’s a player,” HV coach Chuck Babb said of Arnold. “In my opinion, he’s the best player in this league — hands down. We knew we weren’t going to stop him. We were hoping to hold him to less than 46, but we knew he was going to get his 25, 27…

“He can shoot, he can take it to the hole, he can post you up. We let him get loose a couple of times that we shouldn’t have — in transition and things, not finding him. We played pretty good defense on the other guys, and I thought the stat that probably beat us was second-chance opportunities. I don’t know that he had 20 rebounds, but he had to be close.”
