Avery County authorities believe wanted man is in RM

Investigators with the Avery County Sheriff’s Department are searching for a man who they believe is in the Roan Mountain area of Carter County.

Chief Detective Troy Cook said 21-year-old Calvin Cook has outstanding warrants in North Carolina for felony probation violation and felony breaking and entering charges. “He is believed to be in the Roan Mountain area of Carter County,” Cook said.

Anyone with information about Cook’s location is requested to call the Avery County Sheriff’s Department at 828-733-2071 or High Country Crimestoppers at 828-737-0125. Callers who provide information to High Country Crimestoppers leading to the arrest of wanted persons, recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs are eligible for a cash reward.
