Bales a catalyst for Unaka’s success

As Unaka’s basketball team has risen back to prominence in the area, senior guard Billy Bales has paved the way.
The Rangers (19-9) face old rival Hampton (20-14) this evening at 6, in the Region 1-A tournament semifinals, at Chuckey-Doak Middle School. Bales carries the school banner with averages of 17 points, 10 rebounds and two steals per game.
“This off-season we really did a lot of work, kind of went back to the drawing board,” the 6-foot-1 Bales said before Monday’s practice at Ronnie L. Snavely Gymnasium. “Just started really worked hard. Went back to just doing things the right way, and doing little things.
