Band members kick off fundraisers

By

Members of the T.A. Dugger Junior High and Elizabethton High School Betsy Band commenced the group’s annual fall fundraisers this weekend. Door-to-door sales will be conducted by the band members throughout the next few weeks. Catalogs were sent home with all band students for citizens interested in purchasing gift wrap for the upcoming holiday season or special events on Friday, Sept. 7.

The gift wrap event concludes Monday, Oct. 8. Students will pick up their orders of gift wrap in the EHS Band Room during the first week of November.

Also, Betsy will begin its annual Florida Indian River Groves fruit sale the first week in October. The fruit will be delivered in early December. Students have to collect monies when orders for either fundraiser are placed. The fruit is excellent for holiday gift giving or fruit baskets for loved ones.

Proceeds from the fundraisers, according to Band Directors Chris Lockhart and Perry Elliott, help to purchase equipment such as instruments and sheet music, uniforms and other items vital to the success of the award winning Betsy Band. Interested persons may contact any band student, the band room at 547-8015, Lisa Parrish at 542- 6615, Teresa Sorah at 542-8711 or Band Boosters President Tim Smith at 512-8015 or email him at timsmith@fbcelizabethton. com . Also, check out the group’s website, betsyband.org, for more information and current photos of the students.
