Barbara Sue Calvert, 79, of Hampton, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Pine Ridge Care Center, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Calvert was born in Washington County, Tenn., to the late Samuel William and Rose Ann Hilton Poore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Lee Calvert; a sister, Evelyn Fillers; a brother-in-law, Vernon Fillers; and her stepfather, George Robert Gobble.
Mrs. Calvert was a homemaker and was of the Free Will Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Elaine Calvert, Elizabethton, and Robin Denise Knuth, Kingsport; two sons, Michael Lee Calvert, of Kansas, and Gregory Eugene Calvert, Hampton; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Jimmy Dale Fillers, Johnson City; and a stepbrother, Smokey Wayne Gobble, Kingsport.
The funeral service for Mrs. Calvert will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday, February 24, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Calvert, Cody Calvert, Greg Calvert, Fred Knuth, Ben Green and Dylan Calvert. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and Pine Ridge Care Center for all the love and care shown to Mrs. Calvert during her illness.
