The Betsy Bash this Saturday will offer fun for all ages. The festival will have a costume contest, a store-front decoration contest and the Bonnie Kate Theater will have free showings of “Grease” throughout the day.

The Downtown Business Association is sponsoring the Betsy Bash, which is the first festival the group has held. The DBA took over the former Octoberfest from the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce.

The DBA renamed the festival and made some changes to the event. Unlike Octoberfest, the festival will not offer arts and crafts vendors. Instead, the Betsy Bash will focus on family activities and contests.

DBA President John Bunn said the Betsy Bash will provide a variety of activities throughout the day. Merchants will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and some of them will be offering special sales.
