Blue Circle put an exclamation point on their dominant 10-and-under season with a workmanlike 11-3 victory over Friendship Hyundai in the National Cal Ripken Minor League Championship.
The solid offensive performance — with clutch defense thrown in for good measure — represented a typical outing for the blue-clad Blue Circle Market squad as they ran their record to 19-1 with championship hardware in tow.
From the very beginning the contest took on the feel of a championship coronation, with Blue Circle maintaining a 5-1 lead through the first three innings.
Nico Ashley was at the epicenter of this early push.
The stalwart sent a two-run shot to left field in the bottom of the second inning.
The double, which garnered Blue Circle a 4-0 lead, was the first shot of a 2-fo-3, 3 RBI night for the slugger.
At that point, the contest’s momentum sat squarely in the Blue Circle dugout.
Back-to-back to back RBI shots from Jordan Killian, Ashley and Lake Street sent the game into the realm of a blowout with the score standing at 8-1 by the close of the fourth Inning.
Although singles from Issac Brumit and Michael Harrah helped to put three Friendship runs on the board in their final at bat, it was just not in the cards for the blue and yellow squad.
Their season ended with an impressive 15-5 record.
