Board divided over new meeting room

Work on a new board room for the Elizabethton City Schools continues at the old Douglas School, but at least two board members are not pleased with the project.

Elizabethton School Board Member Catherine Armstrong and Elizabethton Director of Schools Ed Alexander disagree with the work on the new board room at Central Office.

Catherine Armstrong and Connie Baker voiced their disapproval of the project at Thursday afternoon’s Elizabethton Board of Education meeting, held in the current board room.

In June, Director of Schools Ed Alexander informed the board of the renovations. Director of Facilities and Technology Services Joey Trent has been working with inmate work crews to renovate an old gymnasium in the central office into a board room. The space had been used for storage before the renovation.
