Board members recognized at last meeting before election

It was an emotional goodbye as two members of the Elizabethton Board of Education participated in their last meeting before the November election.

School board members Kim Birchfield, Rita Booher and Matt Cooter were recognized by Director of Schools Ed Alexander, second from left, during the last school board meeting before the November election.
Seats held by Chairman Matt Cooter, Rita Booher and Kim Birchfield will be on the November ballot. The board meeting was the last for Cooter and Birchfield, who are not seeking re-election. Booher is running for re-election to the board.
Cooter has served on the board for eight years. Birchfield and Booher have both served for six years. The board members were recognized with plaques honoring them for their service on the board.
