Body found along Gap Creek Road

Officers with the Carter County Sheriff’s Department, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Highway Patrol are at an active crime scene along Gap Creek Road between Dry Creek and Loveless roads where  skeletal remains were discovered by a survey crew.

Sheriff Chris Mathes said the found body is being treated as the victim of a homicide for investigation purposes.

A THP crew was dispatched to map the scene, and the remains will be moved once they’re finished.
