TIMERGARAH, Pakistan (AP) — Police say a roadside bomb in northwest Pakistan has killed five people, including a local leader of a political party that has been targeted by the Taliban.

Police officer Mohammed Wahid Khan says the bomb was detonated by remote control Tuesday as a vehicle carrying local Pakistan People’s Party leader Zahir Shah passed by in Babagam village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Khan says the dead included Shah, two of his guards and two of his supporters. The blast also wounded five people.

Police officer Mohammed Rasool says Shah was in the area campaigning for his brother, who is running for provincial assembly.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
