The Bonnie Kate Theater has been focusing on live entertainment since ending showings of new release movies in the fall of 2012 because of the movie industry’s shift to digital operating systems.

“Having more concerts and live entertainment has worked out well for us,” said Bonnie Kate owner Cindy Higgs. She operates the business with her husband Brian.

The theater has a full schedule of concerts in January, starting with Saving Abel on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. Saving Abel has had numerous hit songs including “Addicted,” “Stupid Girl,” “18 Days” and “Drowning.”

Then on Monday, Jan. 20, American Idol finalist James Durbin will perform starting at 7:30 p.m. Durbin finished in fourth place during the 10th season of the reality show. He has released a single titled “Parachute.”
