Miss Watauga Valley Brittany Kyte made her first official appearance during the annual tree-lighting
ceremony for the Fraser Fir. She sang to entertain the crowd gathered for the official kick-off
of the holiday season.

“I always watched Miss America as a little girl, so I wanted to be a part of that,” Kyte said. “I started participating in the Miss America Organization when I was a senior in high school,”

Kyte is currently representing her home town as Miss Watauga Valley, the second time she has been honored to hold that title.

“I am very excited about representing my home town for a second time,” Kyte said. “Miss Watauga Valley is the most fortunate girl at Miss Tennessee because of the community that she represents. Not only does she have the most loving pageant directors, but everyone in Elizabethton is so supportive and that means a lot.”

The annual pageant is directed by Linda Adams, Becky Davis Simerly and Andy Hall. Kyte was crowned Miss Watauga Valley last weekend during the pageant at Happy Valley High School. She was also crowned Miss Watauga Valley in 2010.
