Broken hinge closes main library entrance

The caution tape blocking the front door of the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library is neither a Halloween decoration display or marking off a crime scene.

Library staff put up the caution tape to protect visitors to the library from possible injury after a hinge in the right front door on the E Street entrance broke on Monday night.

Library Director Mel Goff said the library is still open, but visitors will not be able to enter the library through the main entrance on E Street. Visitors can access the library through the rear entrance off of D Street. Also, the old Post Office entrance on Sycamore Street has been opened until the main entrance can be repaired.
