Bucs break from Thursday woes

By

JOHNSON CITY — You can kiss the Thursday slump goodbye.
Sophomores John Walton and Rashawn Rembert delivered career highs with 23 and 18 points, respectively, while senior Jarvis Jones added 22 as East Tennessee State won a Thursday Atlantic Sun game for the first time this season with a 79-70 victory over Kennesaw State at MSHA Athletic Center.
“We did not think this would be an easy game,” said ETSU coach Murry Bartow. “Kennesaw had played well on the road. We’re really proud of our guys from Mitchell High — Jarvis and John — combining for 45 for us. Rashawn made some big shots.”
The win, following Saturday’s one-point thriller at Stetson, marks the first time ETSU has won consecutive games this season — something that hasn’t been done this late in the schedule since the 1984-85 campaign.
It was also the first time the Bucs have won at home leading wire-to-wire.
