BOONE, N.C. — In a game of runs, it looked like Milligan was poised to strike. However, it was Appalachian State that delivered the knockout punch.
The Mountaineers used a pair of late runs that the Buffaloes were unable to overcome as they fell 100-68 inside the Holmes Center in exhibition action on Saturday afternoon.
The Buffaloes were unable to play the role of holiday spoiler for the Mountaineers despite a solid start in familiar surroundings.
“We always play well in this building,” Milligan coach Bill Robinson said. “We talked a lot about that today. We are comfortable here, we know what the locker room looks like and what the arena looks like. We comfortable here and shoot the ball well. Unfortunately, we just weren’t able to sustain it.”
