Two streaks remained intact after Tuesday’s Appalachian Athletic Conference tilt between Milligan College and St. Andrews University at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse, and those were the Buffaloes’ winning streak — and the Knights’ losing one.
The Buffs’ win streak has now reached five games and Milligan improved to 17-7 overall and 9-2 in the AAC with a convincing 91-57 victory over the Knights, who remain winless on the season at 0-19 overall and 0-10 AAC.
On the ladies’ side, Milligan (18-7, 11-1) registered an 81-53 victory to extend its win streak to five games as well.
“Tempo was much more in our favor in the second half,” said Buffs head coach Bill Robinson. “You can’t look at a team’s record and feel like you can just walk on the floor and win. Nobody can do that. You have to play hard and take it from them and that’s what we did in the second half.”
Up 44-35 at the break, the Buffs weren’t about to let the Knights become upset-minded visitors as the second half opened with Milligan extending the lead to 57-31 with 15:14 remaining.
Five Buffs scored in double figures with senior wing Tyler DeVault scoring a game-high 18 points, followed by Corey Hendren and Cartree Pettis with 15. Guard Torian Sitton and post Morgan McLeod each finished with 11 points.
