It wasn’t easy or pretty at times, but perfection rarely is.
Hampton used a strong third quarter to pull away to take a 70-55 victory over South Greene on Tuesday night in the District 1-A championship game at Daniel Boone High School.
“Our kids played well even when they had big runs there,” Hampton coach Ned Smith said. “We buckled down, and kept trying to play defense. South Greene is an athletic bunch. They shot the ball well from outside and got to the hole. They played real well tonight. I thought our kids made enough big plays and a couple of runs to get the job done.”
For the Bulldogs (25-5), it is their second district title in three years. The win also improved Hampton to 12-0 against district foes this season.
