AFTON — Unaka holds the bragging rights for winning three times this season, but Hampton took the one that mattered most.
The Bulldogs kept their state tournament hopes alive with a dramatic 66-64 win over the Rangers Tuesday night at Chuckey-Doak Middle School.
They’ll now face Cloudland (24-10) Thursday at 7 p.m. for the championship.
Hampton fans were pretty confident when Cody McClain went to the foul line with 1.5 seconds remaining and up by two. But he missed both tosses, leaving the door open for a miracle heave.
Spencer Nave’s 75-footer was on line, but hit the front of the rim allowing the Bulldogs to escape heart-attack mode.
