For the second time in a week Hampton thumped Washburn on the diamond, this time at Hampton High School on Friday afternoon by a 14-4 tally in six innings.
The Bulldogs (4-3) recorded 13 hits and starting pitcher Stone Hutchinson hurled a two-hitter, striking out six and walking one as Hampton scored another win over the Pirates.
“I just wanted to go out there and throw strikes,” Hutchinson said. “We came out and hit the ball real well today. It was a great team effort.”
Hampton struck for six runs in the last of the second on bases-loaded RBI hits by shortstop Kody Lauderback (one RBI), center fielder Mark Ailport (two RBI) and Hutchinson — and the Pirates defense did Dalton no favors with five errors in the contest.
