Capt. Thomas Smith serves as jail superintendent
A former 6th District constable and veteran of the Navy now supervises the $26 million Carter County Jail.

Captain Thomas Smith is the current administrator for the Carter County Jail.
Capt. Thomas Smith began working at the Carter County Sheriff’s Department in October of 1994. He began as a reserve officer and remained with the department for about two years. “A position came open in the 6th District for constable,” Smith said.
