Chattanooga firm named to provide jail health care
The Carter County Commission selected Southern Health Partners Monday to provide medical services at the Carter County Jail.
Southern Health Partners, based in Chattanooga, had submitted the lowest bid, at $478,800. It was one of five bids for the job.
Since the beginning of the month, the jail has been without a primary health care provider, after Dr. Daniel Paul declined to renew his contract. Last year, Paul had a contract with the county for $360,000.
Beginning Oct. 1, nurses from other facilities, including the Washington County Detention Center, have been working at the Carter County Jail until a provider could be selected.
