Chick-fil-A customers get in line, take a stand
Hundreds of customers flocked to the Elizabethton Chick-fil-A restaurant Wednesday in support of the company CEO’s position against gay marriage. The daylong event came about after CEO Dan Cathy said last week that he was “very much committed” to the biblical definition of family which he interpreted as not including same-sex marriage.
After several government officials pledged to fight the Atlanta-based restaurant because of Cathy’s comments, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee organized Wednesday’s event to show support for the eatery and its beliefs. In Elizabethton, the drive-thru line wrapped around the building and customers waited for up to half an hour to order chicken. An assistant manager said late Wednesday the restaurant had “been totally slammed since 8 o’clock that morning.”
