Simerly Creek Believer’s Fellowship Church

Simerly Creek Believer’s Fellowship Church will hold Vacation Bible School from July 9-13 from 6 to 8 p.m. each night.

The theme this year is “A Bug Zone: Transformed by Our Big God!”

Everyone is welcome and transportation is available by calling 895-1873.

The church is located at 806 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton.

East Side Baptist

East Side Baptist Church, 1509 Siam Road, Elizabethton, will host a Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 14, from 4-8 p.m. The event is open to all families and individuals in the community and will include inflatables and games for the children and picnic-style food for all. Watauga First Baptist

Tony Peters, retired wrestler, will be singing at Watauga First Baptist Church, 111 East Third Ave., on Sunday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m.

The public is invited.


First United Methodist

“Isn’t It Time to Use Your Key?” will be the theme of the Sunday morning sermon at First United Methodist Church by Pastor Raymond Amos. The scripture text is Mark 6: 1-13. The morning service will begin at 10 a.m. after which a brief fellowship time will be held.

Sunday School for all ages will begin at 11:20 a.m. The Men’s Prayer Group will meet at 9 a.m. in Room 108.

The Sunday Evening Bible Study on the book of Revelation will be held at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

The Abiding Love Bible Study group will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays in the fellowship hall.

Bethlehem Lutheran

“I Send You” is the sermon theme for the Sunday morning worship service July 8 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Johnson City. The sermon text is Ezekiel 2: 1-5. Morning worship will be held at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Holy Communion will be served at both services.

Sunday School and Bible study will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Interpreted services for the deaf are available on the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

Bethlehem Lutheran is located at 201 E. Watauga Ave., Johnson City. Rev. Steven Harmon is pastor.


Hunter Memorial

Vacation Bible School at Hunter Memorial Baptist Church will be held July 24-27, with classes daily from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration will be held Sunday, July 22, from 4 to 6 p.m.

There will be classes for ages five years to 12th grade.

Sacred Harmony will sing

Sacred Harmony will be in concert at the Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 8. The church is located at 1916 Highway 185, Jonesborough.

First Christian

The Men of First Christian Church will have their monthly breakfast Sunday at 8 a.m. in the fellowship hall. There is a cost of $3 per person. The youth will be enjoying a camping trip to Roan Mountain State Park.

On Sunday, the morning message will be presented by Minister Brent Nidiffer. At noon the children’s committee will meet for lunch in the fellowship hall.

The evening service and children’s classes will begin at 6 p.m. The church board will meet at 7 p.m. in the men’s classroom.

Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock, there will be morning prayer in the sanctuary. This 30-minute time of meditation will be led by Minister Brent Nidiffer.

Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., there will be Bible classes for all ages. Also, the Grace Circle will meet in the Winsome Classroom.

Roan Park Baptist

Vacation Bible School at Roan Park Baptist Church will be held July 8-12 with classes nightly from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The theme of the Bible school is “BABYLON (Daniel’s Courage in Captivity).” There will be classes for all ages.

St. Thomas Episcopal

A Block Party will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Saturday, July 7.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., the event will feature a free outdoor movie. The public is welcome.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawns chairs or blankets.

The church is located at 815 N. Second St., Elizabethton.

Elizabethton Church of Christ 

A gospel meeting featuring David Shannon as speaker will be held at the Elizabethton Church of Christ July 8-11. Shannon is pulpit minister for the Mount Juliet Church of Christ near Nashville. He will be preaching a series of lessons focusing on what God has to say about subjects of paramount importance to everyone: religion, baptism, family and salvation.

Classes will be held Sunday at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday meetings will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Elizabethton Church of Christ is located at 127 East C St. Roby Ellis is minister.
