New Liberty
New Liberty Freewill Baptist Church will continue its month-long celebration of Christmas with featured Christmas music and activities this Sunday with the Nursery, Beginners, & Primary classes presenting a Christmas program during the 11 a.m. morning worship service.
During the 6 p.m. evening worship service, the Primary & Junior classes will present a play entitled “Is It Really Christmas” directed by Audra Monroe & Lynae Colbaugh.
Laura Shoun and Joy Markland will present special Christmas music selections during both of the morning and evening services.
The Rev. Ray Colbaugh, pastor, invites the public to attend.
The church is located at 113 Peters Hollow Road near the Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

 
CCCMF meeting
The Carter County Christian Men’s Fellowship will meet Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. at First Christian Church of Elizabethton.
The guest speaker will be Adam Tomlinson.
After the worship and preaching service, there will be a time of fellowship.

of the Nazarene
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the First Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall Saturday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A free hotdog lunch will be served.
Sunday, a Christmas cantata will be presented at the 10:45 a.m. worship service.
The children’s play will be presented Sunday, Dec. 22, at 10:45 a.m.

Bethlehem Lutheran
“Your God Will Come” will be the theme for the sermon at morning worship Sunday, Dec. 25, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 201 E. Watauga Ave., Johnson City. The sermon text is Isaiah 35: 1-10.
Morning worship is at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
Sunday School and Bible Study will be held at 9:15 a.m.
Advent Vespers will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. The sermon topic will be “Jesus Is Lord” based on scripture from Luke 1: 39-45.
Interpreted services for the deaf are available on the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

The youth of Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church will have their Christmas party Saturday, Dec. 14, in the fellowship hall.
The youth will meet at 4 p.m. to go caroling and deliver fruit baskets to the elderly. They will eat after they return to the church.
The youth will present a Christmas play at the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday.

A free pancake breakfast will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Valley Forge United Methodist Church, 3974 Highway 19E.

The Christmas cantata “Bethlehem Morning” will be presented Sunday, Dec. 22, at the morning service at 11 a.m. A candlelight service will be presented that evening at 6 p.m.

Elk Park Christian will have its annual “Sounds and Tastes of Christmas” service Sunday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m.

After the service there will be a Happy Birthday Party for Jesus in the fellowship hall.
Wednesday, Dec. 18, the congregation will go Christmas caroling. Those wishing to go are asked to meet at the church at 6 p.m. Carolers will visit those in nursing homes or who are homebound.

First Presbyterian
“Ethics of the Kingdom” will be the theme of the sermon for the Sunday morning worship service at First Presbyterian Church, when the Third Sunday of Advent is celebrated.
The worship service will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday School and Adult Forum will be at 9:45 a.m.
The Church Family Christmas Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish for the festive evening of food, fellowship, and fun.
A “Tidings of Comfort Service” will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m.
In announcing the service Pastor John Shuck said Christmas is not always jolly and fun, especially for those who have lost a loved one, struggle with mental illness or just plain get the blues when the days get dark.
The service is designed to acknowledge those not-so-jolly feelings that sometimes are overwhelming. The service will include both sacred and secular texts and music, prayer, meditation, and candle lighting.
