Church news, Jan. 17-Jan. 24


First United Methodist
The sermon “I Just Met Jesus” based on John 1: 29-42 will be presented at the Sunday morning worship service at First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton.
The service will begin at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a brief time of fellowship. Sunday School will begin at 11:20 a.m.
The Men’s Prayer Group will meet at 9 a.m. in Room 108.
The Sunday evening Bible Study on Acts will be held at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
UMY will meet Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the youth house. G2s will meet Tuesday from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. in the youth house and the Coolagers will meet Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m.
The Wednesday evening service will be held at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
The Rev. Ray Amos is pastor and Debbie Fields is minister to children and youth.

CCCMF meeting
The Carter County Christian Men’s Fellowship will meet Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. at West Side Christian Church in Elizabethton.
Andrew Church will be the guest speaker. After the worship and preaching service, there will be a time of fellowship.

Hampton First Baptist
Willie Campbell will be guest speaker for the evening service Sunday at Hampton First Baptist Church. The service will begin at 6 p.m.
Campbell, who was recently appointed to the Carter County Commission, has been involved in jail ministry for 24 years. He will share about his ministry.
The public is invited to attend.
The Rev. Mike Hyder is pastor.
Hampton First Baptist is located at 407 First Ave. in Hampton.

First Christian
Dr. Don Marshall will speak at the 9:45 a.m. service Sunday, Jan. 19, at First Christian Church of Elizabethton. Sunday School classes will meet following the worship service.
At noon a fundraiser luncheon will be held for Connie Tester to help cover her expenses while she recuperates from cancer surgery. Donations will be received.
The evening service will be held at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary with Jeff Campbell speaking.
The church office will be closed Monday, Jan. 20.
The Ladies Bible Study Group will meet Monday at 10 a.m. in the Fidelis Classroom.
The Wednesday evening Bible study will be held at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
Also, the church office announces that Christian Care Counseling Network is offering free marital counseling for couples in time for a Valentine wedding.

JC Church of Jesus
The Knight Family from Kingsport will sing at the Church of Jesus Sunday, Jan. 19, at the 6 p.m. service.

Bethlehem Lutheran
“God is Faithful” will be the theme of the message for morning worship Sunday, Jan. 19, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 201 E. Watauga Ave., Johnson City.
Morning worship will be held at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
Sunday School and Bible study will be held at 9:15 a.m.
Interpreted services for the deaf are available the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. worship service.
The Rev. Steven Harmon is pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran.
