City man faces assault, drug-related charges


Police say they found an Elizabethton man in possession of prescription pills after, according to a police report, he tried to hit his brother with a car and caused a disturbance outside of a Hampton business Wednesday at about 10:30 p.m..

Tyler Nathaniel Edwards, 21, 1253 Bluefield Ave., No. D6, Elizabethton, was charged with domestic aggravated assault, one count each of possession of Schedule VI and III controlled narcotics and two counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled narcotic.

According to the report, Carter County Constables Tim Lyons and John Henson arrived at Hampton Bait Shop, 126 First Ave., to find Edwards being restrained by a bait shop customer. Lyons placed Edwards in his patrol car.
