An agreement between the City of Elizabethton and Carter County on an overdue cleanup near the courthouse annex went before the Carter County Building and Grounds Committee at its Monday night meeting.
The city has proposed allowing the county a 15-month extension to complete requests for work made at a recent meeting between sheriff’s department, city and county officials.
“They are willing to give us more time,” said Committee Chairman L.C. Tester.
Tester said officials met to discuss requests from the city and a time frame for the project.
Tester said the city would like to see the area designated for more parking beside the walkway to the sheriff’s department offices become more presentable.
“They want us to clean it up a little bit,” Tester said. “There’s not going to be a great expense to this. We’re just going to tidy it up.”
