The Elizabethton Board of Education discussed the possibility of hiring an additional lawyer for school board issues Thursday, but ultimately decided to delay a decision until next month to allow time to explore other options.
Board member Catherine Armstrong asked the board to consider adding a local attorney to its legal team. She said she has always had issues with the fact the board’s main attorney, Jackson, Shields, Yeiser and Holt, was in Memphis instead of the Tri-Cities.
“Other boards have their attorneys present at the meetings,” Armstrong said. “It’s a good feeling to have your lawyers at the meetings to provide guidance and to answer questions.”
