The Carter County Commission has formally recognized lifelong farmer and businessman Conway Hyder for his contributions to the community.
At the Sept. 17 commission meeting, Hyder received a standing ovation when Mayor Leon Humphrey presented him a plaque.
“He has always been active in the community,” Humphrey told the audience.
Hyder lives on Dry Hollow Road in the Stoney Creek section of the county, where he continues to operate a large farm with his son Jim. It was there, Hyder and his father, J.L. Hyder, farmed on 200 acres.
