The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

 

SaturdaySept. 1

The 37th Simerly/Jenkins Family Reunion will be held at the Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church picnic grounds. Reunion time is from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch beginning at noon sharp. Please bring two covered dishes. All other supplies will be furnished. A short memorial service will be held at the Jenkins Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring family pictures to share. The Hampton High School Class of 1955 will hold its 57-year reunion at 6:30 p.m. at Shirley’s Restaurant at Watauga Lake in Hampton. For more information, call Jessie at 542-6759.

Borderline will perform for a dance from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Buffalo Ruritan Club in Bluff City. Admission is $5.

Alcoholics Anonymous 12-Step Closed Meeting will be held at 2 p.m. at Crossroads, 413 E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

Narcotics Anonymous “Just For Today” group will meet at the Crossroads Building at 12:15 p.m. Enter through the entrance at the rear of the building.

 

SundaySept. 2

The annual decoration for the Cochran Cemetery in the Fairview community of Hampton will be held at 2 p.m. Dallas Gregg will be the guest speaker.

The Street Cemetery Decoration will meet at the usual gathering place at Roan Mountain State Park for a meal at 1 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to share. Attendees will leave after the picnic to travel to the cemetery in the Burbank community. For more information, call 957-9499.

Family and friends are invited to the annual Brewer/Birchfield Family Reunion at Roan Mountain State Park at the Campground Picnic Shelter. Please bring a picnic lunch for everyone to enjoy. Coffee, cups, plates, napkins and silverware will be furnished. Lunch will be served at noon. Those attending are asked to bring family history and photos to share. Southern Countrymen Band will perform on Labor Day at Saltville Days in Saltville, Va., from 4 to 5:15 p.m. For more information, call Daryl Goodman at 943-5600.

A Labor Day paddleboard fundraiser at the Shook Branch recreation area at Watauga Lake in Hampton will benefit East Tennessee Spay and Neuter. A $10 entry fee covers board, paddles and two life jackets. Family rates are available. The paddleboard races are open for people and their pets. Registration begins at 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by Off the Grid Adventures. Proceeds fund ETSN’s local programs. Call 725-2572 or register online at www.offthegridadv.com.

 

TuesdaySept. 4

The American Legion Watauga Post No. 49, located at the corner of Watauga and G Street, will be holding their monthly meeting. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., with the Post Meeting to follow at 7 p.m. First time nonmember veterans will have dinner for free on us!
