Community Calendar for Friday November 9. 2012


FridayNov. 9

The Keenburg Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization will host a fall festival from 6 to 8 p.m. in the gym. There is no admission charge; tickets to play games are 25 cents each. Activities will include games, auctions, hay rides, pony rides, cake walks and much more. Prizes will be awarded. Come out to the festival and bring the whole family. Hampton Lodge No. 750 will be conducting a Master Mason Degree. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., with degree work to begin around 7 p.m. All area brethren are invited to attend and participate in this degree work. Visitors are always wecome.

The Elizabethton Senior Dance Club will hold a dance at the Elizabethton Elks Lodge, No. 1847, 1000 N. Sycamore St., from 7 to 10 p.m Music will be provided by the Rambling Rose Band. Those attending are asked to bring finger foods to share. There is a $6 door charge.

The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton.


SaturdayNov. 10

East Tennessee Christian Home and Academy will present Joyfest 2012 at T.A. Dugger Junior High School from 6 to 9 p.m. Proceeds from this benefit gospel/bluegrass concert will assist ETCHA with its mission. Performers will include No Name But His, Greater Glory, Fiddlin’ Carson Peters and the East Tennessee State University Bluegrass Band. General seating is $7 and reserved seating is $10. The Buladeen Citizens Center Club, 2819 Highway 91, Stoney Creek, will host the Dusty Road Band at 6 p.m. Concessions will be available. There is no admission charge and everyone is welcome. The Julius Dugger Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution will meet at the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library from 10 a.m. to noon. All members are urged to attend. Visitors are welcome.

Limited Edition will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Buffalo Ruritan Club in Bluff City. Admission is $5.

Alcoholics Anonymous 12-Step Closed Meeting will be held at 2 p.m. at Crossroads, 413 E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

Narcotics Anonymous “Just For Today” group will meet at the Crossroads Building at 12:15 p.m. Enter through the entrance at the rear of the building.


SundayNov. 11

MondayNov. 12

The Elizabethton Civitan Club will raise the American flag at participating business locations in recognition of Veterans Day. Information may be obtained about the Civitan Flag Program by calling 542-2092.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly, or TOPS, will meet at Eastside Freewill Baptist Church, 704 Siam Road, Elizabethton, on Mondays with weighing in from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Meeting begins at 6 p.m. For more information, call 213-2770.

The Al-Anon “Free To Be Me” Family Group will meet at 6 p.m. at the Watauga Baptist Association Building, 3871 Highway 19E, Elizabethton.
