The descendants of Grover and Bessie Timbs Vines will gather for a family reunion from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the home of Bret and Kim Vines Lyon, 262 Sky-Wa-Mo Road, Bluff City. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish, drinks and paper goods to share. For more information, call Susan Gouge Estep at 542-0443.

The Al-Anon “Free To Be Me” Family Group will meet at 6 p.m. at the Watauga Baptist Association Building, 3871 Highway 19E, Elizabethton.

The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

 

FridayAug. 3

Southern Countrymen Band will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at The Outdoorsman on Stone Drive in Kingsport. Admission is $5. For more information, call Daryl Goodman at 943-5600.

 

SaturdayAug. 4

Roan Mountain Lodge No. 566 F&AM will hold its Annual Community Picnic behind the Roan Mountain Post Office. Food will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. The event is open to everyone.

A family reunion for descendants of Alex and Susie Knight will be held at Zion Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Gap Creek Road. Those attending are asked to meet at 11 a.m. and to plan to eat at noon sharp. All families are asked to bring covered dishes, dessert, bread and drinks to share as well as family photos, stories and other mementos. All other supplies will be furnished. The annual family reunion for descendants of Robert Montgomery and Rosa Hicks Montgomery will be held at the Hampton Christian Church Fellowship Hall at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and dessert and join the fellowship. For more information, call Gary at 383-2856.

The descendants of Emmert “Doc” and Wilda Deloach will hold their annual reunion at the home of Ray and Brenda Loveless. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to share for lunch. For more information, call Albert Deloach at 725-3754 or Gaye Loveless at 542-8129.

Shayne will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Buffalo Ruritan Club in Bluff City. Admission is $5.

A Sequoyah School Reunion is planned to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the school’s opening in 1972. The reunion will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Elizabethton to commemorate the opening of the school in 1972. The students who attended Sequoyah School came from nine school systems in Upper East Tennessee and North Carolina to receive academic and vocational training as well as physical therapy and speech and hearing services. Parents, students and staff members are urged to call call Judy Turnmire Haley at 543-6828 or email Leslie Webb Gannaway at lgway77@yahoo.com. They are compiling a contact list to keep everyone informed of plans for the reunion.
