TuesdayOct. 2

American Legion Watauga Post No. 49 and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will meet at the American Legion building, on the corner of West G Street and Watauga Avenue. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m. First time non-member veterans will have dinner for free. Any veteran interested in becoming a member of the Post is invited. The high school counselors from the Carter County School System, in collaboration with Niswonger Foundation, are sponsoring the Ready, Set, Go Financial Aid Preview. The event, which is free and open to all Carter County high school seniors who are interested in learning more about financial planning for college, will take place at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Food will be provided from 5 to 6 p.m., and the program will conclude at 8 p.m. Please RSVP with your school counselor for more information.
