Roan Mountain Lodge No. 566 F&AM will hold a regular stated meeting at 7 p.m. All members in good standing are urged to attend and visiting brethren are always welcome.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly, or TOPS, will meet at Eastside Freewill Baptist Church, 704 Siam Road, Elizabethton, on Mondays with weighing in from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Meeting begins at 6 p.m. For more information, call 213-2770.

TuesdaySept. 11

The Elizabethton Civitan Club will raise the American flag at participating business locations. Businesses interested in having a flag to observe the anniversary of 9-11 are asked to call 542-2902 to request a flag service.

The Johnson City United Auto Workers Retirees will meet at 10 a.m. at Maple Grove Restaurant in Unicoi. All UAW retirees are invited to attend. Directions: Follow 126 East towards Asheville. Take Exit 32 and turn left at the end of the ramp. The restaurant is 2/10th of a mile on the right. Bring your spouse or a friend and join fellow members for this meeting. The Al-Anon “Free To Be Me” Family Group will meet at 6 p.m. at the Watauga Baptist Association Building, 3871 Highway 19E, Elizabethton.

 

ThursdaySept. 13

The Carter County Humane Society will meet at 6 p.m. at Doe River Baptist Church.

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 and Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting at the Southside Christian Church Recreation Building (the old school) on Southside Road. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with a business meeting to follow at 7 p.m. All members are requested to attend. The chapter normally meets the second Thursday of each month. Anyone who is service-connected and disabled or who thinks they might be is invited to attend and get more information.

 

FridaySept. 14

Southern Countrymen Band will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at The Outdoorsman on Stone Drive in Kingsport. Admission is $5. For more information, call Daryl Goodman at 943-5600.

 

SaturdaySept. 15

Rocky Top Gun Permit School will hold a Tennessee Handgun Permit training class beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the B&K Community Center on the Old Bristol Highway in Elizabethton. Elizabethton High School Class of 1956 will hold a class picnic at 5:30 p.m. at East River Park Church Pavilion located off Broad Street in Elizabethton. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish. Meat, drinks and rolls will be provided. For more information, contact Margaret Sams.
