Citizens In Action will hold a townhall meeting at 6 p.m. in the courtroom at the Carter County Courthouse. Everyone is welcome.

 

FridayNov. 16

Sycamore Chapter 163 Order of the Eastern Star will hold a bean supper from 5 to 7 p.m. at the lodge. Menu will consist of beans, cornbread, slaw, drink and desserts. Tickets are $5 at the door. Everyone is welcome.

Hampton Lodge No. 750 will hold a stated meeting at 7 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend. Visitors are always welcome.

The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

 

SaturdayNov. 17

A benefit gospel singing will be held at 6 p.m. at Valley Forge Elementary School. Special singers will be Joel Crisp, Gospel 2, Lisa Poole, Lucinda Buckles and others. Pastor Howard Estep will host the event. The singing is a benefit arranged by the family and friends of Dewey L. “Gomer” Hartley. Within the last three years, Hartley has lost the use of both his legs. All the proceeds raised will go toward a purchase of a wheelchair lift or van with the lift. Visit the American Recycles Table at Food City from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. View products made from recycled items, such as plastic and paper. Learn what items can be accepted at the Carter County Recycling Center on Cherokee Industrial Park Drive in Elizabethton.

The Elizabethton Book Club will meet at 2 p.m. in the parlor of Memorial Presbyterian Church. The guest speaker for the meeting will be Lilian Boot.

Rocky Top Gun Permit School will hold a Tennessee Handgun Permit training class beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the B&K Community Center on the Old Bristol Highway in Elizabethton. Ken Potter, state certified instructor, will be instructing the class. Cost of the class is $50. For more information and to enroll, call 341-1709 or 543-6048 or 542-8064.

The Mountain Empire Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America will hold its annual business meeting and luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the Johnson City Country Club. Call LCDR Tom Shafer at 639-0874 for information and to confirm attendance for planning purposes.

Alcoholics Anonymous 12-Step Closed Meeting will be held at 2 p.m. at Crossroads, 413 E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

Narcotics Anonymous “Just For Today” group will meet at the Crossroads Building at 12:15 p.m. Enter through the entrance at the rear of the building.

Bakersfield will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Buffalo Ruritan Club in Bluff City. Admission is $5.

 

SundayNov. 18

The Friends of the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library will be decorating the library for the holiday season at 2:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend and lend a hand in this delightful annual activity. Please enter through the main door.

MondayNov. 19

The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter No. 824, will meet at 7 p.m. in Room 167 of the Domiciliary Building 160 at the VA Medical Center. Meetings are held the third Monday of each month. For more information, call 543-8963 or 543- 5941.
